Breakthrough in research and development of resistivity logging tool through casing in western drilling

At the beginning of May, xcrl through casing resistivity logging tool independently developed by western drilling and logging company completed field debugging and logging experiment under 150 high temperature and 70 MPa pressure, and achieved success, and achieved new breakthrough in research and development.

In oil and gas drilling, through casing resistivity logging tool is like a pair of "eyes" installed on downhole equipment. It can effectively detect the performance of oil and gas reservoirs in metal casings thousands of meters deep, which is of great significance for optimizing oilfield development, enhancing oil recovery and prolonging oilfield production life.

This technology has been monopolized by foreign countries. Since the end of 1990s, many domestic research institutions have begun the basic theoretical research and technology grafting of this technology.

In 2008, western drilling and logging company took the development of through casing resistivity logging tool as the company's key scientific research project. The company has successively completed the research of measurement theory, telemetry system, hydraulic system, electrode pushing system, weak signal data processing and other disciplines across the circuit, machinery, hydraulic and other disciplines, and successfully solved the technical problems of weak signal data processing, phase stability, signal synchronous transmission, high-pressure sealing and other technical problems, and the development of logging tools has been successful.

In April last year, the new technology was successfully tested in several wells in Xinjiang Oilfield. The test results show that the instrument can work continuously for 36 hours at a time, the measuring section is more than 140 meters, and the performance is not reduced. Compared with the imported similar instrument, the continuous working time is more than 28 hours. It has high reliability in high pressure sealing performance and acid alkali corrosion resistance. During the measurement, the pressure drop of the electrode plate (reflecting the pressure of the probe to the casing wall) is obviously less than that of the imported similar instruments. The electrode pushing stability is good, and the main indexes reach the international advanced level.

Xcrl through casing resistivity logging tool has good economic and social benefits and has been widely recognized by oilfield users. In 2011, more oil production plants put xcrl through casing resistivity logging project into production plan.

However, this new technology can only be used under certain conditions. In order to make the service scope of this new technology wider and higher accuracy, the western drilling and logging company began to carry out research and development under different high temperature and high pressure conditions. The R & D personnel have completed various experiments in the laboratory under 150 high temperature and 70 MPa pressure of hydraulic system. From March this year, the well logging has entered the field test stage.

At the beginning of this year, the well logging tool x98 has been developed by Xinjiang Oilfield Company, and has achieved the goal of new well logging tool test in May.

Chen Bin, deputy manager of western drilling and logging company, said: "xcrl through casing resistivity logging tool has obtained high-quality logging curves in logging experiments of two wells, and the fitting relationship with bilateral laterolog curves is very good. The correlation coefficient is above 0.9, and the regression coefficient of linear equation is close to 1.0. The measurement stability and operation efficiency are greatly improved. The design of self-developed logging acquisition software in terms of intelligent measurement and quality control makes operation more convenient, control more accurate and time effective

At present, it has obtained 5 national patents for casing resistivity tool. In order to transform scientific and technological achievements into productive forces, xcrl through casing resistivity instrument has been put into the track of industrialization.
